Flourishing students are empowered to grow and learn by committed and competent early educators. Early educators need high quality targeted professional development (PD). PD is often defined as, "structured professional learning that results in changes to teacher knowledge and practices, and improvements in student learning outcomes" (Darling-Hammond, Hyler & Gardner). Research indicates that teacher competency and skill is directly correlated to school culture, child development, student achievement, and ultimately program sustainability. We will identify practices that lead to both staff and student retention and growth. All stakeholders have a vested interest in identifying the central aspects of effective teacher PD which enhance student outcomes. In this meeting we will review aspects of targeted professional development (TPD) the school leader can implement in daily practice as well as intentional in-service training.
